CommVault Systems
CommVault® Systems provides unified enterprise data management solutions to ensure high-performance data protection, universal availability and simplified management of complex storage networks. The company's singular focus is creating and implementing fast, reliable and easy-to-use solutions to meet customers' data management requirements. CommVault's software products seamlessly ensure the reliable, rapid restoration of files, business-critical applications and today's most popular databases.
In early 2000, the company launched its flagship product, CommVault® Galaxy™ data protection — and off of its technologic leadership, forged far-reaching alliances with top software application and hardware vendors like Dell, EMC, HP, HDS, IBM and Microsoft to deliver the premiere suite of data management solutions by solving key storage networking challenges. To date, Galaxy software is installed at over 750 sites protecting hundreds of terabytes of data. This expanding foundation of success has allowed CommVault to pursue its strategic vision to evolve into a complete data management solution provider.
Formerly a strategic business unit of AT&T Network Systems, CommVault was founded in 1988 as an independent section of Bell Laboratories, chartered with developing an automatic backup, archiving and recovery software product for AT&T's own internal use. Responding to the increasing demand for enterprise-wide storage solutions and the forecasted growth for storage management solutions, the senior management of CommVault Systems purchased the assets of the company — with the aid of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and the Sprout Group — from Lucent Technologies on May 22, 1996.
