Palo Alto, CA & Seattle, WAThis individual will work closely with the IAS Sales Team, IAS Engineering/Professional Services Team, and IAS Vendors to perform implementation and consulting services, including but not limited to, installation and configuration of designed technical solutions, onsite technical assessments, knowledge transfer and training, demonstrations and evaluation support, beta testing support, troubleshooting as required, run book and configuration documentation, and technical advisement to presales team. The Network Technologies Specialist will be required to review and develop Statements of Work, participate in pre-installation and ongoing project conference calls and meetings, provide status updates, and complete trip reports. The Network Technologies Specialist must be able to research specific technology questions and perform a final qualification of a proposed solution for interoperability and support as required. The Network Technologies Specialist will participate in discussions regarding implementation strategy and approach and must be comfortable with informal presentations or “chalk talks” of various technologies. The Network Technologies Specialist must work alongside the IAS Project Management Team who will set schedules and priorities. Ability to pursue and achieve professional certifications will be required.
Job Responsibilities:- Support IAS sales and engineering staff in selecting, designing, and implementing network solutions
- Provide product expertise to IAS and our customers in networking technologies including routing, switching, WAN optimization, load-balancing, firewalls, intrusion detection, and network access control
- Present proposed networking technologies and topologies to IAS customers and prospects in support of IAS sales teams
- Provide post-sales implementation support for network solutions designed and sold by IAS sales teams
- Develop a deep technical understanding of interoperability of network technologies with the various other non-network infrastructure platforms and software suites that IAS provides including but not limited to NetApp, HDS, Dell, Symantec NetBackup, Microsoft Exchange, and Quantum DXi.
- Provide demos, architecture, sizing, bills of material, proposals/differentiators, and RFP responses in conjunction with IAS sales teams
- Develop close relationships with engineers at our manufacturing partners • Help maintain a lab environment which will fully support testing of various deployment and support scenarios
- Provide IAS customers with strategic direction regarding network design, upgrades and migrations
- Provide hands on support to IAS customers and IAS Engineering Team in implementing, redesigning, and reconfiguring network technologies and in network technology migrations (e.g. Cisco to Juniper, EIGRP to OSPF, etc.)
- Develop an understanding and expertise for deployment of networking technologies in a virtualized environment (i.e. VMware, Hyper-V, Xen, etc.) and be able to present these concepts
- Present deep dive overviews and discussions on networking topics to customers and IAS Sales/Engineering Teams as required
- Meet and maintain product/expertise certification requirements as defined by IAS and our associated partners
- 7+ years experience of hands on administration and support of or selling and implementing routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and/or WAN optimization technologies
- Testing, provisioning, implementing, staging, and remote troubleshooting of highly complex networks.
- Extensive experience with routers, switches, and firewalls
- Experience with Juniper JUNOS preferred
- Experience working with numerous types of technologies: Juniper routing, switching and security products; Cisco routing, switching and security products; Force10, F5 LTM & GTM, Riverbed, Silver Peak
- Extensive experience with OSPF and BGP routing protocols
- Extensive experience with Layer 2 protocols: MSTP, RSTP, VLANs, GVRP, RTG, Q- in-Q, VRF, LACP
- Experience working with WAN technologies: SONET/SDH, Frame Relay, IP MPLS, ATM
- Experience with other protocols preferred: QOS, PQ, CQ, WFQ, RSVP, CoS, MPLS, VPLS
- Experience implementing/working in a datacenter environment highly preferred
- Excellent presentation skills
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work flexible hours as necessary to meet customer requirements
- Ability to travel to various customer locations as necessary
- Qualified candidates shall have at least one of the following certifications: JNCIS, CCNP (Routing & Switching), CCIP, CCDP
- Qualified candidates should have or should be able to obtain some of the following certifications within 6 months after hire JNCIP, JNCIE, CCSP, F5-SEL (F5 System Engineer – LTM)
- Candidate should be willing to produce sample network documentation and diagrams
- Willingness to travel to Southern California and Pacific Northwest for professional services engagements
