Gateway – Specialized hardware that connects two otherwise incompatible systems, using different protocols and media, operating locally or over wide areas.
Gigabit (Gb) – 1,024 megabit or 1 billion information bits.
Gigabyte (GB) – Gigabyte. A unit of data storage size which represents one billion characters of information.
Gigabit Network – A network that operates at a billion bits a second: 100 times faster than Ethernet: fast enough to make a digitized movie file look as good as in the theater.
Gripper Jaws - The plastic components that make up the end of the picker mechanism. Used to move tapes.
GUI - Graphical User Interface. The graphical user interface, (pronounced Gooee), provides the user with a method of interacting with the computer and its special applications, usually via a mouse or other selection device.
