eBSP - e-Business Solution Provider.
EDI - Electronic Data Interchange. The electronic transfer of preformatted business documents, such as purchase orders and bills of lading, between trading partners.
E-Mail – Electronic mail. Any communications service that permits the electronic transmission and storage of messages and attached or enclosed files.
ECN - Electronic Communications Network.
eCRM - Electronic Customer Relationships Manager.
Encoding – File transfer formatting that enables encrypted, compressed or binary files to be transferred without corruption or loss of data.
Encryption – Coding information in a file or e-mail message to prevent third party interception over the network from accessing the information.
ERP – Enterprise Resource Planning.
ESCON – Enterprise Systems Connectivity. A high-speed fiber-optic serial channel for IBM’s ES/9000 processors. Initially based in part on a fiber-optic link operating at a speed of 200 mbits per second but has been driven faster.
ESD – Electronic Software Distribution. A means of installing software by transmitting it over a network.
Ethernet – Local-area network (LAN) topology commonly operating at 10 Mbps over various physical media such as coaxial cable, shielded or unshielded twisted pair and fiber optics.
Extranet – An extension of the internal web infrastructure to include business and other trusted organizations external to the implementing organization.
Extranets – One-to-one connections over the Internet. Unlike e-marketplaces, where the whole wide Web world is invited to the party, access to extranets is by invitation only.
