Job Description:
The role of the Senior Post-Sales/Implementation Engineer is to provide technical implementation, support and consulting services to existing and potential IAS customers. Technical implementation, support, and consulting services will be focused primarily on storage (SAN/NAS, Primary/Nearline) and data protection (backup, clustering, and replication technology) solutions offered by Network Appliance, HDS, Symantec, and SUN. However, implementation experience with additional technologies including various tape library and virtual tape library manufacturers (Quantum, Overland, Data Domain, Spectra Logic, STK), backup products by EMC and Commvault, tiered storage technologies by (Zantaz, Arkivio, and Commvault), virtualization technologies (VMWare, Xen, Solaris 10), and network focused optimization products (F5, Citrix, Juniper, Cisco) maybe required. This individual will work closely with the IAS Sales Team, IAS Engineering/Professional Services Team, and IAS Vendors to perform implementation and consulting services, including but not limited to, installation and configuration of designed technical solutions, onsite technical assessments, knowledge transfer and training, demonstrations and evaluation support, beta testing support, troubleshooting as required, run book and configuration documentation, and technical advisement to presales team. The Senior Post-Sales/Implementation Engineer will be required to review and develop Statements of Work, participate in pre-installation and ongoing project conference calls and meetings, provide status updates, and complete trip reports. The Senior Post-Sales/Implementation Engineer must be able to research specific technology questions and perform a final qualification of a proposed solution for interoperability and support as required. The Senior Post-Sales/Implementation Engineer will participate in discussions regarding implementation strategy and approach and must be comfortable with informal presentations or “chalk talks” of various technologies. The Senior Post-Sales/Implementation Engineer must work along side the IAS Project Management Team who will set schedules and priorities. Ability to pursue and achieve professional certifications will be required. This position will be focused primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area; however, it may be necessary to travel to other IAS office or customer locations on an occasional basis. Some weekend and off hours work will be required.
Requirements Qualifications/Education:
- At least 2 years of previous experience in a Post -Sales/Implementation role with a Value Added Reseller (VAR) and/or a Technology Manufacturer in the Storage Industry
- At least 2 years technical implementation experience with storage technologies (SAN, FCP/ISCSI and NAS)
- At least 2 years technical experience implementing Network Appliance technology
- At least 2 years experience implementing and designing backup technology solutions including one of the following: Symantec Netbackup, Symantec Backup Exec (v9 or higher), EMC Networker, Commvault Galaxy
- 2+ years system administration hands on experience with one or more of the following: Unix (Solaris, HP-UX, or AIX), Linux, Windows
- Strong oral, written, and organization skills are mandatory
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment and decision making
- Use of Visio. Examples are mandatory
- Ability to develop run book/configuration documentation. Examples are mandatory
- Ability to manage time and multiple tasks without supervision
- Interpersonal skills and professionalism are critical
- Good troubleshooting techniques
- 4 year college degree is preferred
- Ability to pursue and achieve professional certifications
Additional Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Post Sales implementation experience/certification with any of the following storage products:
o HDS, Engenio, Nexsan,SUN/Storagetek - Post Sales implementation experience/certification with any of the following data protection products:
o Data Domain, Quantum/Overland/STK/Spectra Logic tape libraries - Post Sales implementation experience/certification with any of the following tiered storage products:
o Zantaz, Commvault, Arkivio, FLM - Post Sales implementation experience/certification with Symantec Storage/Data Protection Products
o Storage Foundation including VCS/VVR
o Netbackup and/or Backup Exec - Network Appliance certification (Professional/Expert)
- Virtualization technology experience/certification (i.e. VmWare (VCP), Xen, Solaris 10 Containers/LDOM’s, Brocade Storage/X)
- Experience/certification with Sun technologies (Sun Enterprise, Workgroup, Solaris Core, Sun Cluster, SUN/STK Storage)
- 1+ years experience with network focused technologies (WAN Optimization and Load Balancing – F5, Citrix, Juniper, Cisco and Router/Switches – Cisco, Juniper)
- Pre-sales experience
- Linux and/or Windows certification
